Promoted the development of effective pedagogical practices through observations, guest teaching, and workshops with 6 novice teachers.  Prepared 2 students for Cambridge CPE exam.  Conducted additional workshops in English-language theatre.

 

Lecturer, English Language and English-Language Theatre

Department of English, Ostrava University, Czech Republic                        Sept 2004-Jan 2006                          

Designed and taught courses to students enrolled in various programs including English for Teachers, English for Business, Philosophy, and other modern languages.  Course designs for low-intermediate to high proficiency students emphasized oral communication, writing for academic purposes, and critical thinking.  Also led seminar and directed productions including a full staging of Beth Henley’s Crimes of the Heart for the student group English Language Theatre of Ostrava (ELTO).  Taught 20 contact hours per week.

Planned and taught courses in English as a foreign language for beginning to advanced levels using a variety of American and British textbooks and supplementary materials.  Prepared students for Cambridge FCE, CAE, BEC Vantage, and BEC Higher exams.  Taught 20 contact hours per week 2002-2004 and 7 hours per week 2004-2006.
